Kerguelen 2015 Part 1: 3 weeks with the albatrosses
Had virtually no time for photos this year but got to spend a whole day in the colony the day before we left, waiting for a bird to come back with our GPS. Managed to take quite a few albatorss photos all the same :)
Two non breeding black browed albatross dance....
Some breeders brood their chicks while waiting for their partners to return....
A pair change shifts, as one bird returns from sea and the other prepares to leave
A bird with a GPS on its back. It has been to sea for about 2 weeks and we recaught it soon after this was taken!
Some beautiful sooty albatrosses...
And for the penguin lovers among you....

A young bird returns to the colony. On its leg is a light logger that we leave on for about 3 years and it tells us where the birds go before they start breeding.
